Fall Clinics

Panthers Boys Basketball
Whitman- Are you ready for some basketball? The Whitman-Hanson Boys basketball program will once again be holding their Future Stars Pre-Season Basketball clinics at the high school. Head Coach Bob Rodgers, his staff and many of his players will teach the fundamentals in order to get youngsters ready for the upcoming season.
Boys in grades 1 through 3 will play on hoops which are lowered to a size appropriate for their beginning stage of basketball unless the player opts to play up. Boys in grades 4 through 8 will use the regulation hoops and will utilize the shootaway machine. “We are always excited to work with the young players in our community. We have been doing this so long now, that most of our current players went through these very programs,” Rodgers said. “We feel like we are able to stress and teach fundamentals to players of all ability levels. Whether these kids end up playing basketball in high school or not really doesn’t matter that much, but what we truly want to see happen is give each boy enough confidence to enjoy playing at the youth level so they want to keep playing this great game.”
The program starts on October 3rd and runs every Monday through November 14th (no clinic on 10/10) from 6-7:30pm. The cost of the program is only $100 if registered before September 23rd and $125 after that date. All proceeds will benefit the high school basketball program. To register, go to
http://fs8.formsite.com/panthercamp/FutureStars/index.html . Space is limited and will be filled on a first come first served basis. If you have any questions, you can contact us at robert.rodgers@whrsd.org .

Day 7.... Last night on the ship tonight. Everyone is doing well. The kids have all been very well behaved and all of them are enjoying themselves. We have been receiving complements from
Many other passengers about the way the conduct themselves. In fact, yesterday another passenger and his wife insisted on taking our entire team to a specialty restaurant and he picked up the tab! Sorry most of the kids have not been calling or emailing. It is not their fault. It is difficult and expensive to do that.

"Adversity is the state at which man most easily becomes aquainted with himself, being esspecially free of admirers then" - John Wooden

Reason: We were not expected to do good this year and we came into the first game of the year with an attitude that if you make a mistake you shoul dlearn from it not get down on your self.

"I can accept failure, but i can't accept not learning from it" - Michael Jordan

Reason: We let up a big lead against Hingham and played a horrible 3rd quarter and instead of making excuses we need to just learn from our mistakes and work hard at not letting it happen again.

Quotes

First quote: December 15

"Players play, but tough players win"- Jay Bilas

Reason for quote- If we want to be successful this year and be league champs again thn we cant just go through the motions, we have to play tough whitman hanson basketball and mean what we do.

Second quote: January 9

"The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall."- Vince Lombardi

Reason for quote- This was 2 days after the loss against Hingham and i thought it was important becuase it was a tough loss and we needed to learn from it and get better.

Third quote: January 24

"Failure is not fatal, but failure to change might be"- John Wooden

Reason for quote- If we keep giving up big leads in the second half and lose, then those losses might be the difference between us making the tournyment or not, but if we can keep the big lead then we will continue to have a great season.
